The European Commission has imposed a €2.95 billion ($3.45 billion) antitrust fine on Google for allegedly favoring its own advertising technology services over competitors. Regulators claim the tech giant engaged in "self-preferencing" behavior, distorting competition in the adtech market. Google has 60 days to respond and must implement measures to address conflicts of interest.

The company plans to appeal, calling the decision "wrong" and "unjustified." Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald TRUMP has threatened retaliatory tariffs on European goods in response to the ruling, invoking Section 301 powers. The move signals escalating tensions between U.S. and EU regulatory approaches to big tech.
